This month, Kenzie’s Gift celebrates a major service milestone in its history of providing psychosocial support to children experiencing grief and bereavement within the family.
Since its inception in 2009, Kenzie’s Gift has provided nearly 2,000 one on one therapy sessions to children and families across New Zealand, and delivered 600 ‘My Journey’ and ‘Memories are Forever’ bereavement kits.
The ‘My Journey’ pack includes information to help parents and children cope when there is a diagnosis of serious, or terminal, illness within the family.
The Kenzie’s Gift ‘Memories are Forever’ pack provides information designed to help families through the grief and loss of a bereavement. Each pack features a booklet for children and a special publication for parents.
To date, Auckland Hospices have received copies of the ‘Memories’ kit. This helpful pack can also be found in the paediatric unit of Christchurch hospital and the paediatric intensive care and cardiology units at Starship Hospital. The packs are also used to comfort and support families in Auckland Hospital’s Department of Critical Care.
Kenzie’s Gift also provides packs within the community to families in need. If you would like to know more about Kenzie’s Gift’s printed resources, and how they can help you, please contact us.
