We provide up to 12 fully funded 1-on-1 therapy sessions with registered mental health professionals for children (tamariki), young people (mātātahi) and their familiy (whānau) who are closely affected by serious illness or grief.
At Kenzie's Gift, we understand the deep and lasting impact that grief and serious illness can have on children (tamariki) and young people (mātātahi), and their families (whānau).
That’s why we provide up to 12 fully-funded therapy sessions delivered one-to-one by experienced, registered mental health professionals.
Our therapy is tailored specifically for children, teens, and young adults aged between 3 and 24 who are coping with serious illness, cancer, or grief following the death or terminal illness of a parent or sibling.
Getting the right emotional support when it matters most can profoundly change the lives of young people affected by traumatic life events. Our therapists are informed by best-practice psychosocial care guidelines and designed specifically for children and young people experiencing intense emotions such as anxiety, depression, anger, loneliness, and isolation associated with grief and illness.
Through one-to-one therapeutic support, we equip children (tamariki) and young people (rangatahi) with practical coping strategies and tools to manage their experiences now and into the future. Our focus is always on the individual needs of each young person, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment to openly express their feelings and thoughts.
Our services are available to young people aged 3 to 24 who have experienced the death of a parent or sibling, or who are dealing with serious illness within their immediate family. Although our sessions may involve the participation of mātua (parents) or primary caregivers, the therapy itself centres on the emotional needs of the young person.
All Kenzie’s Gift therapists are fully registered, experienced mental health professionals who specialise in child and youth grief and illness support. They provide compassionate, evidence-based care designed to meet the specific emotional needs of grieving young people.
Our therapists create personalised treatment plans, utilising therapeutic approaches proven effective for children and young people experiencing trauma. With empathy and understanding, they guide young people towards emotional strength, stability, and improved mental well-being.
Accessing our services is straightforward and confidential.
