Jenhai began her career working with tamariki / children, mātātahi / young people and their families in a variety of settings after training as a social worker and in counselling in the 1990s. She then went on to train as a play therapist at York University in the UK.

Jenhai has been working with children, young people and their families in a variety of settings for the past 30 years. This has included working in child and family mental health organisations and private practice in both the UK and New Zealand. Her specialism is in Play Therapy, parent-child attachment relationships and trauma recovery. She has provided therapeutic services to children and their families affected by domestic violence, trauma including sexual abuse, adoption, grief and loss. In her work with children and their families, she offers a child-centred and psychodynamic approach through the use of play. Jenhai’s goal is to facilitate a safe space where children and their parents can find resolution, healing and recovery.
